Three days from now, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote to override the President's veto of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Families USA is hosting national call-in days to send the message loud and clear that children's health coverage is a number one priority for American families. Call 1-800-828-0498.

Four of Tennessee's nine U.S. House members voted with President Bush: Representative David Davis, John Duncan, Zack Wamp, and Marsha Blackburn.

With President Bush's veto of SCHIP, Tennessee Representatives David Davis, John Duncan, Zack Wamp, and Marsha Blackburn joined Congressional opponents of the program in abdicating the most basic responsibility that we expect of our elected leaders: protect our children.

In order to overturn a Presidential veto, two-thirds of Congress must vote with us. Although a whopping 45 House Republicans have bucked the President by voting for the bill, we are still short of the votes required to defeat the President in the House – and this is where you come in. None of Tennessee's Republican Representatives bucked the President.

What should you say?

    1. I strongly urge you to vote to override President Bush's veto of health care for 10 million American kids.
    2. Every child in America needs and deserves health care.
    3. As a voter, I believe that America's children should be the top priority of my elected leaders.
    4. Please vote to override the President's veto of SCHIP (pronounced S-CHIP)!

We have exactly three days before the vote, which gives us a few more days to drive our message home. The more your Members hear from you the better chance we have of defeating the PresidentŐs veto.
