National Call-in is Today!!!

In Tennessee, we need to change three "NO" votes and maintain all the "YES" votes on S-CHIP.

Call Tool Free, 1-800-828-0498, NOW! The House votes today!!!

Today the U.S. House of Representatives will be voting on the S-CHIP legislation. In Tennessee, this means that they will be voting on funding for CoverKids for the next five (5) years.

Below is how Tennessee's Representatives voted in August:

U.S. House Members Voting YES:
Congressman Steve Cohen - Message - Thank him for support SCHIP the first time and ask him to hold his vote to YES.
Congressman John Tanner - Message - Same as above.
Congressman Bart Gordon - Message - Same as above.
Congressman Lincoln Davis - Message - Same as above.

U.S. House Members Voting NO:
Congressman Jim Cooper - Message - Ask him to change his vote.
Congressman Marsha Blackburn - Message - Ask her to change her vote.
Congressman Zach Wamp -Message - Ask him to change his vote.
Congressman John Duncan - Message - Ask him to change his vote.
Congressman David Davis - Message - Ask him to change his vote.

President Bush and the tobacco industry continue to impose their political ideology on this bipartisan effort. President Bush has said that he will VETO this legislation.

Please take the time to call and email your U.S.Congress on how you would vote? The opposition will. Will you? It truly will take less than 5 minutes.

In Tennessee, we need three (3) of the following five (5) Congress members to change their vote to YES: Cooper, Blackburn, Wamp, Davis and/or Duncan.

Call Tool Free, 1-800-828-0498 or 1-866-544-7573 today and voice your support for providing SCHIP additional funding to cover at least 4 million more uninsured children over the next five (5) years. The operator will ask you for your zip code and link you with your Congress members.

Then send and email by clicking on this link: Action Email

Action Plan:

Message:

  1. This is about children. Don't punish our children!
  2. Don't let a VETO threat by Prsident Bush stop kids from being covered by SCHIP. Support legislation that will over-ride a presidential VETO.

Strong votes in Congress will send a message to President Bush and his advisors that they must think twice before vetoing legislation that provides health care to 4 million additional children.

Sincerely,

Tony Garr, Tennessee Health Care Campaign
