Take Action: Our US Senators are deciding whether or not they will take a position to cap coverage for children at 200% of poverty and put only $5 Billion additional dollars into the program over the next 5 years. This would result in states having to freeze enrollment and thousands of children losing their health insurance.

If this happens, thousands of children in Tennessee who are signing up for CoverKids and thousands of children rolling off of TennCare will lose their health insurance coverage. Our Message: 200% of poverty is not acceptable. SCHIP needs $50 Billion over the next 5 years to cover all children currently enrolled, children eligible but not enrolled, and giving states the flexibility to cover children and parents above 200% of poverty.

2. The $50 Billion is needed to:
   • Continue to cover kids who are currently eligible;
   • Cover kids who are eligible, but not enrolled; and
   • Give Tennessee and other state the flexibility they need to do what is best for families in Tennessee.
