Action needed this very HOUR on behalf of our children's health.
We are hearing there is a 5 pm meeting today, June 20, among Senate Republican staff to decide whether or not they will take a position to cap coverage for children at 200% of poverty.
If this happens, thousands of children in Tennessee who are signing up for CoverKids and thousands of children rolling off of TennCare will lose their health insurance coverage. Our Message: 200% of poverty is not acceptable. SCHIP needs $50 Billion.

Our two US Senators, Senator Alexander and Senator Corker, need to hear from you NOW.
Our US Senators are saying that they will take our views into consideration. Is there a question as to whether or not all our children should be guaranteed affordable, high quality health insurance?
Our US Senators need to hear from you today because a decision may be made in a few days. You need to ask them to do the following:
- Call Senator Baucus, who is Chairman of the Finance Committee, and ask him to put $50 Billion in the federal budget over the next 5 years for SCHIP so that CoverKids will not have to be cut in Tennessee.
- The
$50 Billion is needed to:
- Continue to cover kids who are currently eligible;
- Cover kids who are eligible, but not enrolled; and
- Give Tennessee and other state the flexibility they need to do what is best for families in Tennessee.
