Start with covering Children:

Cover all Americans by 2012 and start with children now. Is it in the water? From WalMart to Service Employees Internation Union, from the US Camber of Commerce to Families USA, from the Catholic Health Association to the American Medical Association, everyone is on the same page - Cover Children First.

The country is also on the same page. Now we have to get Congress with us. If you care about children, take action on this.

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, there is a national call in day:

Call Congress, toll-free: 1-800-828-0498

The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) is up for reauthorization this year. More than 9 million children have no health insurance. We need you to pick up the phone and make covering America’s children a top priority for Congress in 2007. We have an opportunity to make real progress towards comprehensive, affordable, high-quality health coverage for all children.

The Campaign for Children’s for Health Care and the Catholic Health Association of the United States invite you to join your colleagues for an important advocacy call-in day on Tuesday, February 13th. Use this toll-free number on the 13th to call your members of Congress:

Call Congress, toll-free: 1-800-828-0498

What do I say when I call?

  • Today, SCHIP provides high quality, comprehensive, affordable health coverage to more than 4 million children who would otherwise be uninsured. These children get access to vital health care services they would not otherwise be able to afford.
  • Congress must ensure that there is enough money to at least get the children who are already eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP enrolled. To do this, states will need approximately $60 billion in new federal funds over the next five years.
  • No child should lose health coverage because of a shortage of federal funds. The $60 billion includes funding to ensure that no child who is enrolled in SCHIP today—and who continues to be eligible—will lose coverage because of a shortfall in federal funds.
