1. "Faces Of TennCare" - New Years Day

Showing tonight at 5:45 PM and again at 9:45 PM

The poignant film, “Faces of Tenncare: Putting a Human Face on Tennessee’s HealthCare Failure,” will air for the first time nationally on the Documentary Channel on News Years day and throughout the month of January. The 13-minute short documentary explores how the loss of medical coverage has emotionally, physically and financially devastated the lives of thousands upon thousands of Tennesseans.

In August of 2005 over 200,000 of the sickest and most vulnerable people in Tennessee were cut from Tenncare, the state funded medical insurance program, according to healthcare advocates.

"Faces Of Tenncare: Putting A Human Face On Tennessee's Health Care Failure" was written, produced and edited by Nashville writer/filmmaker, Molly Secours and features portraits and interviews by photojournalist Joon Powell, narration by Minton Sparks with vocals and music by Maura O'Connell, John Prine and Steve Conn.

“I'm grateful for The Documentary Channel; just knowing that some of the nearly two hundred thousand Tennesseans who have been voice-less and face-less in the TennCare travesty will be seen on New Years Day by potentially 12 million viewers,” says Secours.

The film “Faces of TennCare,” has received critical acclaim for its compelling and hard-hitting message. Its first national airing will run on January 1st on The Documentary Channel at 4:45 pm CST, then again at 8:45 pm CST and another repeat at 1:00 a.m. CST. The film will be placed on rotation during the month of January. In the Nashville area the Documentary Channel can be found on Comcast Channel 241 or on the Dish Network Channel 197 nation-wide.

"Every state has faces like these. This film is an eloquent cry to the nation to guarantee the basic right to health care for all our people. How can anyone who sees it ignore this worsening crisis any longer?" Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA)
