The minimum wage is $5.15 per hour. It has not been increased since1968.

Senator Jackson, the sponsor of the Minimum Wage bill, wants to increase it to $6.15 per hour.

57,000 people of the 67,000 people who were uninsurable and cut from TennCare had incomes below or near poverty and most of them worked. They need a raise.

Tomorrow morning -- Senate Bill # 3120 -- "Tennessee Minimum Wage Act" is up for a vote before the full.Senate.  Senators need calls tonight, asking for “YES” votes tonight through 9 AM ET/ 8 AM CT tomorrow morning.

Vote YES on SB3120 to bring the State Minimum Wage up to $6.15 an hour.  It is the right thing to do for working families and for Tennessee. Thank you!
 
Talking points you can use for your message:

  • The minimum wage has not been increased since 1968!
  • $6.15 isn’t even a true increase because compared to 1968 dollars the minimum wage should be more than $8 per hour.
  • Working constituents deserve a guarantee of making enough an hour to afford at least a gallon of gas after taxes!
  • We have money to give big corporations huge tax breaks, we should at least be able to give working Tennesseans a decent min. wage
  • You just passed something called Cover Tenn. to help with health care for poor workers – how about paying them a little more so that they might be able to afford health insurance
