TennCare Alert - May 19

***RED ALERT***

GIGANTIC PUSH FOR $75 MILLION MUST HAPPEN NOW!
CALL-XTRAVAGANZA Friday & Saturday, May 19 & 20
It is now or never, today and tomorrow?

Members of Senate & House Finance Ways & Means (FWM) Committees are meeting for a very rare JOINT-SESSION this SUNDAY, May 21 in Nashville, 2:00 PM, 3rd Floor, Tennessee Tower, Nashville.

Many of us plan on being there at 1:30 PM to talk with legislators before the meeting.  They are meeting to compare notes and priorities for the funding of AMENDMENTS to the BUDGET.  Decisions will be made. We have an amendment for $75 million that would fund the SB3424/HB3340 (Jackson/Odom) bill that all of you have been working so hard to make happen. There are amendments to fund ball parks to building new roads to providing life-saving health care. Are the lives of people a priority?

Your help is needed again, please. When you make your call, be polite but firm.

CALLS ARE VITAL TODAY & SATURDAY to House & Senate Finance Ways and Means Committee members' HOMES in their home districts (member list with home phone #s at the end of this message).

Message to HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVE MEMBERS:
Support Rep. Odom’s Amendment 137 to the Budget that will fund $75 million to restore health care coverage for medically uninsurable constituents.  These are some of the sickest, most vulnerable people in the state, who were cut from TennCare and have not been helped by the safety net and will not be helped by Cover Tennessee.  $75 million is needed.  Anything less will not do the job.  These folks are hurting; most have been without access to essential care for almost a year. They are depending on you.  Please don’t turn your back on constituents who are truly in need, with nowhere to turn. The money is there.  THERE IS NO GOOD REASON NOT TO VOTE YES on AMENDMENT 137. Thank you!

Message to SENATE MEMBERS:
Support Senator Jackson’s Amendment 133 to the Budget that will fund $75 million to restore health care coverage for medically uninsurable constituents.  These are some of the sickest, most vulnerable people in the state, who were cut from TennCare and have not been helped by the safety net and will not be helped by Cover Tennessee.  $75 million is needed.  Anything less will not do the job.
