TennCare Alert - May 15

The House Finance Committee meets tomorrow morning, Tuesday, May 16, at 9:00 AM. This committee makes the decision as to whether TennCare gets $13 million or $70 million. $70 million will provide health care for 40,000 people. $13 million will care for 7,000 people. 67,000 uninsurable people were cut off last year. We need $70 million, not $13. The legislators listed below need to hear from you. Please call tonight and again tomorrow morning. Leave a message if you are not able to talk with them. Message: Put $70 million dollars into restoring health insurance coverage for 40,000 people who are uninsurable. People are dying and we expect you to respond. Last year the legislature cut TennCare by $550 million state dollars, cutting over 225,000 people off. I am asking you to restore coverage for only 40,000 people, not the 225,000 people cut off. This is the minimum that we expect you to do.
