There
are 6.2 million Tennesseans and 5.2 million have benefited already.
- One million
seniors have already benefits by having preventive health services,
extra help with their prescription drugs and enhanced protections.
- Three million
employed workers are also receiving preventive health services
and enhanced protections.
- Over one
million low-income TennCare recipients did not lose their eligibility
during the economic downturn because the states were required
to maintain eligibility. The states were allowed to reduce benefits
only for a few beneficiaries.
Beginning
January 1, 2014, about 700,000 additional Tennesseans can
sign up for either TennCare or private health insurance coverage
and be eligible for subsidies and advanced tax credits. About three
hundred thousand will either not be eligible for coverage because
they are immigrants or can ask for an exemption from coverage.
